Their youthful fearlessness coupled with immense curiosity makes us a natural draw. They venture close to the boat in their hand-made dugout canoes and hope someone emerges from below to talk with them. These young girls from a Vanuatu village, paddling their rickety old canoe with a mere stick, had gathered flowers for us. They were delighted with the exercise books and hair combs we presented them, thus opening the door for further trade with the village. Text Box:
